I had a rather gnarly blue screen problem with my laptop about a month ago. I’d installed new software and shortly thereafter, the laptop wouldn’t stay on for more than 5 minutes.
I ran a system diagnostic to figure out what the dilly-yo was. While the diagnostic ran, the following paraphrased message appeared on the screen: Though it may not seem like the computer is working, it is. Please make sure not to touch it or turn it off. Epiphany on multiple levels. Yeah, the message was about the computer, but it was sooo not about the computer.
How many times have you found yourself working so hard busting your butt to reach a dream or a goal and it felt like nothing was happening?
How many times have you told yourself “This isnt’ working, I might as well give up” when something you wanted didn’t yet come to pass?
Are you currently discouraged because something you want isn’t occurring fast enough?
Rest assured, CoCo (Cosmic Consciousness) is working CoCo’s unseen magic lining up the right players and circumstances to bring them desires at the exact right time. Just don’t turn it (faith) off.
We also find ourselves thinking that we have to push harder, demand more or tug and toil longer to make manifest what we’ve been laboring after. This relates to the don’t-touch-it part of my laptop diagnostic message.
When I feel like I have to push harder better faster stronger (shameless Daft Punk plug), I remind myself that CoCo works wonders when I ease off the gas pedal and trust in the process. When I take a breath and flow, stuff…well…flows.
I’m also reminded that some things aren’t the emergency my mind makes them out to be.
Case in point, I had so much I needed to get done when the laptop malfunctioned and I got pretty desperate. I concocted a plan B that I almost followed through on when plan A didn’t work. Plan B was to wipe the laptop and re-install everything because I thought I most likely had a virus.
I needed a functioning laptop IMMEDIATELY because I had things to do. Hello, emergency! But after tugging, toiling and pushing for long enough, I had enough wherewithal to friggin’ pause. It was Sunday afternoon and I would be going to my other job on Monday. That job is full of adept Information Technology folks who know a thing or two about computer problems.
I felt a softness say “Val, just wait. Have the experts take a look.” So no, things didn’t happen in my timeframe (Sunday!) the way I wanted (for me to fix it quickly). But fixin’ did happen. Gracious IT dude took a look and fixed the issue within 24-48 hours. And what I was so sure would be a you-have-an-evil-virus-and-need-to-wipe-your-computer diagnosis turned out to be “I took care of it. Everything’s fine.” Just goes to show how much I knew. I would have unnecessarily wiped my computer with my plan B. Think of how much more time, energy and money I would have expended to purchase programs and re-install everything. Not fun.
I know laptop problems aren’t quite the same as losing 100 lbs or getting a family back together or dealing with foreclosure. But how different are they in the non-physical? Are any of these challenges more or less challenging for CoCo to manage? Or maybe they aren’t difficult at all.
I can’t answer this for you, but I think you know what I believe ;-)
I recently performed a piece that speaks to the subject of this episode. The vid below (grainy, I know...camera phone) was taken from a performance I did two weeks ago. Enjoy!
